Houston We Have A Problem

Note all the tobacco products. Cigars to dainty flavored ciggarettes. And if you look to the left of the humidor you will see my box of Nicorette to help my quit smoking. It hasn't worked. The box to the left is the prescripton Chantix, also to help quit smoking. Um yeah, that didn't work.

It must be possible though. I've heard of people who manage to quit.

I smoked my last cigarette 13 weeks ago last night, in Las Vegas, while I was at a "That Girl" slot machine. We had just seen the Beatles Cirque du Soleil Love show at the Mirage, where we were staying. I hadn't been planning to quit ... Ron and I got a deadly case of the flu from our Chinese cab driver who was snivelling all over the place on our way to the airport. The cough was enough to make anyone put the skids on it for a while, and then it was two weeks and I hadn't smoked. I suggest you take your last cigarette somewhere awesome, so you can make a statement about it ... then start telling as many people as you can that you have quit ie. the person you used to buy them from, the teller at the bank, the cashier at the liquor store, all of your famiy and friends, etc. Then allow yourself to miss them. It's hard, but truly, I feel so much better when I come up the stairs from our laundry room in the basement. And now my husband has absolutely zip to bitch at me about. Not.

Actually I've been thinking of picking up a pipe and pipe tobacco, that way I would look very silly when I smoke. I do love the smell of pipes though..
I don't smoke very much a pack lasts me about 3-4 days. So my doctors don't even make an issue about it all.

Most of the cigars are Honey's he is going through amid life crisis, he thinks he's Tony Soprano. It could be worse. He does look rather handsome when he wears his slacks and a blazer..

I'm sorry about the hard time you're having with trying to quit. I wish I had some words of wisdom or encouragement to offer you but I'm useless when it comes to smoking addictions...However, can I just say your table is fabulous?

Sorry to hear that nothing has worked yet. Sorry I don't have any advice. Boy I am a big help.

I do like your labels for the post.

Rich went through a Tony Saprano phase! Does honey wear the shirts too?

I tried to quit for years. What finally worked was instead of self loathing every time I had a smoke, I started saying "even though I smoke, I deeply love and respect myself". So stuart smally, I know, but hey I haven smoked in a couple years, don't crave it -- nothing and it started with the mantra. No small miracle. I really tried for years, I would make a few months, get pissed off and start again...

I swear by not skipping breakfast and keeping a level blood sugar, vitamin b and fish oil. Sounds so new age, but any way we can help our bio-chemistry with the upper hand.

Best of luck to you.

FP keeps saying he's thinking about quitting. he tried those lozenges, but they didn't work. i like those commercials we have now about become an ex or something where the people are drinking coffee or getting int heir car and having to relearn -- it's funny, but FP says that is how it is. at any rate, good luck. i've watched those nicotine-withdrawal bad mood happen and they are horrible!

I heard David Sedaris saying he went to Japan to quit. Seems it is easier if you totally change your surroundings so you don't have the old habits (sound familiar?)

I know, you should stay with me a few weeks :-)

Anwyay, good luck! I'm back from Belgium, obviously.
